I have argued for years that the next cycle – the next fourth turning if you are fans of Strauss and Howe – will not be liberal. It will be conservative. Despite the rhetoric of the media. Despite the mandatory celebration of tolerance. For no one can live in hope that way, and (this is the main thesis of Spengler) those without hope do not procreate. Steve Turley, argues in a new book that liberals are facing demographic doom even in the USA and Europe, because religious families have hope (and more babies). In the book he notes that the Pentecostal Churches are growing as fast or faster than Islam. I would add without immigration.
The future belongs not to us, but our children, and if you don't have children you have to use your ideology to steal the children of others, and call that liberation. For those children, raised by conservative believers, generally are honest, hard working and goal directed. They will make your officer corps: let the few children of the truly woke instead be cannon fodder.
But better still, let them be converted to Christ. Let there be altar calls and preaching for conversion. The harvest is there. Souls are saved each week. At present the media are disapproving or silent. Expect more disapproval. For they know their time is limited. For those who have not the spirit of God illuminating them will not see anything spiritual. The enemy wants us blind: though we see as through a veil at least we can navigate towards truth.
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with words of eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.
18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written,
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”
20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. 22 For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles, 24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
The academics of this day are lesser men than those before the war. They have not been tested: those before the war had served in the trenches. Therefore they have not had to deal with their impending doom from a young age. They have abandoned the classics because they require scholastic integrity, English because it is written by the English (who are not woke enough) and science because math is hard and qualitative postmodern anti epistemology is enough to get you published. They believe less in reality that the Muslim scholar who attributes the existence of every second to the inscrutable and arbitrary will of Allah. (The Muslim at least knows there is something outside of himself). There is another aspect of this: since the war your outputs – publications – matter, as does citations and quotes. This works well for conventional thinkers, but to be of Christ is not to be conventional as the world considers it. The person who follows the party line is promoted, but that is to be wise as this age calls it.
Christ instead calls us to preach the gospel, which the scholars, opposing it, call racist, sexist, transphobic, homophobic, xenophobic, islamophobic and foolish. But I will not be ashamed of this gospel. It is the power for salvation for all men regardless of the sex they have, the sins they are tempted by, the nation they belong to or the religion they were bought up within.
And it the only way for relief of your damnation: for none of us have kept to the standards we promote. It is that hope that keeps us doing good, bearing witness, and seeing hope.
For we are not called to be like them: we are called to be like Chris.
