The current lectionary is a reminder of the things to come. The nations, or their woke elite, are raging against those of Christ. There are people losing their jobs and being told to ignore scripture and accede to the spirit of this age. This will not end well. It has never ended well.
For the spirit of this age is a spirit of defeat.

16 And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshipped God, 17 saying,
“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty,
    who is and who was,
for you have taken your great power
    and begun to reign.
18 The nations raged,
    but your wrath came,
and the time for the dead to be judged,
and for rewarding your servants, the prophets and saints,
and those who fear your name,
    both small and great,
and for destroying the destroyers of the earth.”
19 Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen within his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder, an earthquake, and heavy hail.

27 And the kingdom and the dominion
and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven
    shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High;
their kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom,
and all dominions shall serve and obey them.’[a]

Daniel 7:27 ESV

I said a couple of days ago that the prophecies of revelation are to encourage us to endure when times are hard. It may be that there is revival coming: there are conversions most weeks in services. There is a hunger for the word and truth, that perplexes those who say they are tolerant and inclusive, excluding Christ and his followers. For they know that his kingdom will not end.

Theirs will. Do not be like them.

I think there might be revival coming … and it’s going to be wonderful and confusing.
