Lectionary Social Change The Decline Wokeness

Sunday 3 November 19

The introduction today is not mine, but is a comment on a film review of the new Joker movie. I have not seen it: the sons have. I avoid Hollywood, and the tendency to sexualize and make everything degenerate is hitting gardening videos. (We like gardening videos, because we are about to plant the summer garden. You wait until late spring this far south).

The filmmakers are mocking the rightful wrath that is to come because they fear it. But the day of Deus Vult is coming and there is no power on Earth that can stop it. Remember, every knee SHALL bow.

Willingly or unwillingly, even the haters and enemies of God will bend the knee before Jesus Christ.

I agree with Milo when he says the West is primed for a religious revival. The bankruptcy of the Enlightenment, the dead end of hedonistic degeneracy, the vacuousness of science, and the unadulterated wickedness of the satanists is becoming abundantly clear to everyone with eyes.

You are right to hate the wicked. And you are right to be furious.

The revival takes two forms. The first is reformation of our lives: our worship must not be compartmentalized but involve all our live. We must glorify God. Too often, we don’t. The second is a call to repentance, knowing if we do not, God will reject our fake religion.

For he hates mere ritual.

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

11 To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfil every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, 12 so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 1:10-18

10 Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom!
Give ear to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah!
11 “What to me is the multitude of your sacrifices? says the Lord;
I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams and the fat of well-fed beasts;
I do not delight in the blood of bulls, or of lambs, or of goats.
12 “When you come to appear before me, who has required of you this trampling of my courts?
13 Bring no more vain offerings; incense is an abomination to me.
New moon and Sabbath and the calling of convocations— I cannot endure iniquity and solemn assembly.
14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hates;
they have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.
15 When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you;
even though you make many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.

16 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil,
17 learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause.
18 “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Yes, we do. But I (only having a superficial knowledge of Milo) wonder if he welcomes revival, and if so, of what stripe.

I haven’t seen the Joker film either, but given the rabid leftist response, even if it is bad, I figure it can’t be ALL bad.

Still not buying tickets though…

I’d rather watch something cheerful. I see enough pain most days anyway
