19 April 2020: second Sunday in Easter, fourth in Lockdown.

I’m doing this on Saturday night, and I’m having the usual problems with my five plus year old laptop, where all the USB ports and the headphone jacks are loose. Not the fault of the manufacturer — five years of abuse. At least I have not destroyed the keyboard. Yet[1].

What we are having now from our leaders is a proposed set of rules around post level 4 lockdown. Which remains. But they are talking about allowing tradies to work, being able to have 10 people at a funeral, and a wedding but no reception. Schools can open for those who can’t keep their kids at home — though distance teaching is strongly encouraged. But Churches must remain closed.

It will not matter. Not at all. For Christ is the leader of the church, and this is a time of turning to him.

Collect One

Almighty Father,
who hast given thine only Son to die for our sins,
and to rise again for our justification;
Grant us so to put away the leaven
of malice and wickedness,
that we may alway serve thee in pureness of living and truth;
through the merits of the same thy Son
Jesus Christ our Lord.

What we are facing is that a lot of the parts of our life that are distractions are being stripped from us. What we can rely on is taken from us — and the press is following the talking points given to them by their masters (whose progressive agenda is that of our government) and will tell the lies continually.

Be kind. Praise the government. Be patient. Wait. Keep the rules. Do not have joy. Do not turn to Jesus, for our state is a jealous demon.

But we will not serve such. We are of Christ.

1 Peter 1:3-9

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.

We may be in level 4 with KFC[2]. We may be told that we will need to social distance for a long tie. There are those who are getting angry, and there are families suffering. Jobs are going to go. Marriages are going to challenged.

But our reward does not come now. It comes form God. Our inheritance cannot be taken by this season. God is our peace, and though the peoples of this world want war and despair and fear, we shall rely on Jesus. For he is faithful, and he alone has the power to preserve his word.

This season will pass, and the elite of this time will fail. Be of Christ. Do not be of them.

1. I can and have destroyed a standard desktop keyboard in six months. I buy gaming keyboard because I do touch type and they allow me to keep up. I keep my old mac (2013) because it has a decent keyboard.
2. Son two described the next step this way. I think he was quoting Judith Collins.
