Yes, this is going up late. The exhaoustion of the last couple of weeks is catching up with me, and I watched the service at home, sine the churches are shut in the fifth week of lockdown.
In the service, the Pastor talked about feeling inadequte: he had 200 business owners on zoom, and they are all facing no income whatsoever, He did not have anything to say — until he was told to testify about the times he almost lost everything.
This is not a good time. For some, it will the final chapter of their witness, but for most of us, it will be arefining. God wants us stronger at the end of this.
I’m showing my age with the first song — but note that James writes that perseverance through trials is how we gain maturity in Christ, and it is the work of God.
36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified.”
37 Now when they heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brethren, what shall we do?” 38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.” 40 And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on exhorting them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!” 41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.
This is indeed a perverse generation. There are those who would shut down the witness of he church, for progress and glbalism are both jealous demons. But we are chosen, saved, anointed for this time. As our elite become more and more idiotic, simple common sense will shine.
1 Peter 1:17-23
17 If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20 For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you 21 who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
22 Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart, 23 for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.
If you want to see true spirituality, live by the rules of Christ. Love your God with all your mind and soul and stength and you neighbour as your self” the remained of the Mosaic law is commentary.
Then love those of Christ as Christ did.
If you do this, you will make enemies. Your spirit will offend their demons, and they will try to entrap you in cheap romance, cheap food, and industrialized despair (the interest rates on your credit card may be a vector, or not being able to surf).
But we were called to be apart from this corrupt generation. They will fade, but our saviour has redeemed us. Completely.
