I hinted at this in the last lectionary post. Sometimes you have to know that the kingdom is finished. That the end game is coming, and the consequences and predicted outcomes that the prophets from Moses to Jeremiah came as a storm.

In that time, beware of those who preach comfort. There is not comfort. It is a time of winnowing. The false prophet will preach that which is acceptable to the rulers of this world, and they forget that what a true prophet says will come true.

I need to add a disclaimer: I am no prophet. But I see patterns, and they make me afraid.

Jeremiah 28:10-17

10 Then the prophet Hananiah took the yoke-bars from the neck of Jeremiah the prophet and broke them. 11 And Hananiah spoke in the presence of all the people, saying, “Thus says the Lord: Even so will I break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all the nations within two years.” But Jeremiah the prophet went his way.

12 Sometime after the prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke-bars from off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah: 13 “Go, tell Hananiah, ‘Thus says the Lord: You have broken wooden bars, but you have made in their place bars of iron. 14 For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: I have put upon the neck of all these nations an iron yoke to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they shall serve him, for I have given to him even the beasts of the field.’” 15 And Jeremiah the prophet said to the prophet Hananiah, “Listen, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie. 16 Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will remove you from the face of the earth. This year you shall die, because you have uttered rebellion against the Lord.’”

17 In that same year, in the seventh month, the prophet Hananiah died.

In short, one should be afraid to speak the word of God without a direct command. There are those who have that calling. God bless them. It’s frightening enough to see the patterns that exist. Which include the accusations that those of Christ offend all the rules of the woke.

The ‘Both Lives Matter’ billboard in Wellington has been criticised by Black Lives Matter supporters on Facebook, who are claiming the ad borrows language from the movement to serve an anti-abortion agenda.

The billboard by anti-abortion group Voice for Life uses imagery of a pregnant woman holding an ultrasound photo of an unborn baby on her stomach.

Under the photo reads: “Both deserve better than an extreme abortion law”.

A Black Lives Matter supporter posted a photo of the billboard in a Facebook group and gained almost 200 comments.

Please note that the gospel has always been offensive. If we are not offending the false prophets (and BLM are as false as they come) then we are not doing our job.

Romans 3:1-8

3 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? 2 Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews were entrusted with the oracles of God. 3 What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? 4 By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written,

“That you may be justified in your words,
and prevail when you are judged.”

5 But if our unrighteousness serves to show the righteousness of God, what shall we say? That God is unrighteous to inflict wrath on us? (I speak in a human way.) 6 By no means! For then how could God judge the world? 7 But if through my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner? 8 And why not do evil that good may come?—as some people slanderously charge us with saying. Their condemnation is just.

You cannot expect those who preach a lle to tolerate truth. You can expect, instead that they will demand the truth teller’s removal from society: not merely their reputation but their place of employment.

They will accuse the creator of making lies, and being unworthy of worship. For they are Luciferian: they want to be as God, equal or superior to him.

But God is faithful in all his words. It has always been a terrible thing to find yourself in the hands of an Angry God. These false prophets and false activists don’t know what they are saying: they cannot even see plain facts because of their ideology.

And their words will be the standards they are judged by. Pity them, pray for them, but do not listen to this false vision of a more inter sectional humanity. It is as false as the ancient prophet who died at the word of Jeremiah.

Instead turn to he whom is faithful, which is Christ, His words you can rely upon.

It feels like it, doesn’t it?
