One of the hard rules of the agoge is that if you don’t do the work you will suffer. If you do the work you wull be in pain, but if you don’t do the work the first time you are in the playing field involved in full contact you will be defeated and suffer. You are probably going to be defeated a fair amount before you get good, so learning this and your limitations when the stakes are low is a good thing.

in my youth, we did not have the agoge, but we had Bullrush, organized sports, and drill. Times had been hard fro the generation before, and we were protected, but not coddled. As a bookish lad, I was told to go out and play, to get dirty. And I did.

Dirt is a good thing. But ignorance of the laws of nature and of men is a very bad thing. These were codified by Moses, and much of what he says still applies to us. To those who say that they can make men better I note that every time this has happened there has been a death of those, without mercy, who cannot be fitted into the Procrustean model of that time.

And James notes that mercy over rules judgement, but only to those who are merciful.

Deuteronomy 6:1-9

6 “Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it, 2 so that you and your son and your grandson might fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3 O Israel, you should listen and be careful to do it, that it may be well with you and that you may multiply greatly, just as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.

4 “Hear, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand and they shall be as frontals [c]on your forehead. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

James 2:8-13

8 If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not commit murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. 13 For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.

Note here that we are talking about the laws of God, the real rules. Not the rules of the corporation or the elite. Those are false and fake and will not at all help you. Because they have institutionalized the use of partiality. Brother Aaron says more truth than he knows when he says we should not struggle for titles and positions that are now dead, skinsuits only.

Corporate America is no longer the large, efficient, super powerful engine that once powered the great American economy and provided millions of people with careers and professions. It’s a bunch of psychopathic Karens who don’t produce anything and whose sole job it is to keep up the shinny image of a brand name so people buy from that brand name.

Alas, if you are smart (or simply self-respecting) you will be smart enough not to get on this sinking ship. You will develop and hone the skills necessary to become part of the 1099 Superior Race. You will realize that a corner office downtown was never on the table, but a much better offer awaits you on a beach in Thailand as you work from your laptop. Do not envy the “corporate executives” of the future. Pity them. Because life is too short to be called “racist” or “sexist” and sit through “struggle sessions.” Let alone work for a bunch of mentally ill Karens.

There are many people who will ant to get ahead. They will compromise themselves. They will destroy others. They consider life a zero sum game and if they win someone has to lose. They think if you are not cheating you are not trying.

And they have no mercy. We are warned that God will be merciless to those who do not show mercy.

Do not be like them.

Wrestling. There is nowhere to hide on the mat – no excuse that you can make.

It is man’s first, and still best, sport.
