A couple of days ago I was avoiding a work meal.A couple of pepole had been promoted, and the topic moved to world affairs, and how horrible Mr Trump is, how the women have no respect for his wife, and how progressive things are. New Zealand has swallowed the progressive koolaid.
Euthanasia is now legal, so Granny will be encouraged to go early. The only joy I can get out of this election is watching the Greens, who campaigned hard for both, losing the cannabis referendinm: weed will not become legal.
Diversity is not a good thing. Such people bring their morals, their customs, and want to regulate ours. The new Scots hate speech laws mean the Merchant of Venice would be hate speech. In resolving this, martys are made, and their death is justified by an offense on issues that are morally neutral.
This is rank hypocrisy: covering great evil with virtue signalling. It makes people despise politicians, and in the Maccabeean theocracy the Pharisees were politicians.
13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in. [14 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you devour widows’ houses and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive the greater condemnation.]
15 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.
16 “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ 17 You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that has made the gold sacred? 18 And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.’ 19 You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? 20 So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. 21 And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by him who dwells in it. 22 And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who sits upon it.
23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. 24 You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!
25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. 28 So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
I was wrong in my prediction for the election. I did not see a National implosion, and I never thought any party in NZ could get close to a plurality in votes. I misjudged,, in part because I do not worship their news Gods.
I fear for my country. We are run by the diverse, who are there not because they are competent, but because they are of the rainbow, the minority, the refugee. The fringes. The center is despised, but if the center does not hold, then all things are lost. I am convinced that we are being allowed to be punished — this virus is the excuse — because this bunch love power and love the adoration of the crowds. Without that, they panic.
People keep telling me their predictions about the election, and I don’t want to hear them. I have done the Electoral College arithmetic and know that it is easily possible for President Trump to win, even if it’s going to be close and we might have to wait for late returns.
More than that, however, I’ve reached my Zen of pessimistic calm, as I said Wednesday: “Bleak hopelessness is true objectivity.” Being convinced we are utterly doomed is a source of tranquility.
Democrats are now suffering an agony of fear. Four more years of Trump? No, they can’t handle that. It’s driving them to sheer panic:
Bruce Charlton is arguing that we need an experience of Christ and hsi spiritt. I would agree. What he misses in his discussion of abstraction is two things: the first is that exegesis is hard, and application to the times harder. For instance, I have not, today, done the obvious anticlerical thing despite knowing, in my local town, that there are at least a dozen priests and pastors who preach virtue but practice exploitation. From this I have leadned to choose where I worship with exquitite care. The places that ahve a coherent systematic theology can be dead to anything in Christ.
The second is that analysis and rationality, though deeply unfashionable even on hundred years ago, are still useful tools. The Bible is truth. Our commentaries are mere scribbles. I should note that Steiner is not that great a friend of Christ.
A hundred years later and we can see that Steiner was absolutely correct. Four generations of (mostly) development in the refinement of physical forces, clearly has Not brought about human progress.
(Indeed the prevalent – and explicit – idea among the (demonically-driven) Global Establishment is trans-humanism, transcending the human; the abolition – and eventual genocide – of all humans, and their replacement with ‘cyborg’ human-computer hybrids. Why not? Does Satan care for humans?)
And the war of all against all has advanced so rapidly in recent years – and with unprecedented swiftness in 2020 – that implementing exactly such a Life has become the main plank of global public policy with barely any recognition and even less murmer of disconent that this should be.
(Disguised merely by the flimsiest and least coherent of Big Lies, blatant fakery, and terrible consequences evident in the personal experience of every single individual on the planet.)
Steiner knew and prophesied that the immediate post-1914-18 world war was the last chance for the dominant Western world to change its trajectory; but instead materialism/ reeductionism/ positivism was embraced and enforced with teh promise of a life without suffering and of greatly enhanced ‘fun’ – as was evident in the Roaing Twenties and the Swingin Sixties.
Yet the underlying reality of the 20th century was unprecedented world was and atheist socialist/ communist (anti-Christian) regimes of staggering human destructiveness. And the self-destruction of The West primarily by increasing value-inversion with sub-fertility, and deliberate strategy social and suicide – which seems to have reached a decisive climax.
At the moment the appeals to the people from both politicians and priests are rhetorical. They are based on emotion, sentimentality, patriotism. When your PM takes the mantle of the nations saviour (I have enough spicy memes up this morning, and I’m saving Jacinda as Hitler for something else) then people club as a tribe and sa we will follow.
Without clear thinking. God gave you a brain. Hypocrisy and the signalling of virtue works to drive us into accepting the evil underlying the pretty, sentimental lies of this time.
We shall not them follow.
