Yesterday I read over at Cam’s place a general comment. Scott Morrison was “caught” on the steps of Hullsong, or filmed worshupping, by the media. They thought that his faith would be a point against him. The same thing is happening with Judith Collins praying in her local Anglican Church before voting last weekend. Most people either don’t care or respect them for having faith. I would add that instantly there was a two way argument: the first was that how dare Collins pray with the press around and the second is how can a politician that stands up for things that the press thinks Christians say are wrong can pray. Collins is fairly liberal on personal issues: when a minister or priest is such, he is seen as one of the club, and praised. But their servants, the press, are against all that is even in part right and true and good.
In this time, when the church is strongly encouraged to confirm with public health rules (which includes closing) we have to accept that things are imperfect here. We should not give up.
For it is not man who shepherds us, but God.
A Psalm of David.
23 The Lord is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will [h]dwell in the house of the Lord [i]forever.
5 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, 2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading [c]crown of glory. 5 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
We do not have at present good shephers. We have waolves. The people who lead — imperfectly, but lead — because they are shepherds or sheepdogs are scorned by those who want destruction and revolution. And this is causing anger.
Wjem the press is full of adoring female fans around he female leader of the part of the wolf, and not the female leader who prays to our God, you know something is up. The press are, as usual, lying, so one has to turn to those who drop troth bombs because they are antifragile.
In voting for communism/socialism/democrat the average American wife does not only burden her husband with additional taxes, but also socially villifies him in a number of ways. First, he’s male so he’s automatically guilty of unconscious sexism and misogyny. Second, he makes more, so he’s benefited unfairly from society and should pay more in taxes. And third (especially in today’s political climate) if he’s white, well then he’s guilty of all the oppression in the country and is the direct cause of the riots. This does nothing for the morale, let alone the mental health of your husband when you vote for a party (let alone subscribe to a political ideology) that is explicitly anti-male and certainly anti-white male. And though he may say nothing of it, it DOES wear on him psychologically that you support a political platform that hates him. It’s not a big butcher knife you planted in his back, but it is a knife. Even if he agrees with you politically.
Third, let me be very clear – voting democrat has led to these riots.
Voting Labour here is to vofe for killing Granny, for increased racail tentision, and for swingeing tax increases at the same time that Morrision has bought in tax cuts to get the economy going again. It is voting for critical race theory. It will increase the rage.
It will not be our forests that burn (thank you Greens, for not managing forests with the wisdom of the Maori, who burned down the brush during winter so their stelltments survived) It will be our society.
We will then understand, up close and personal, that it is not the Kings and Empires that shepherd us. They are normally, reliably, run by the wolves. The higher levels of the church as well: they are converged or cowards.
It is Christ is is our shepherd. Rejoice. The enemy is clear, and it is now time to resist him, for he will then flee.
