Kea and I have been doing a fair amount of planning over the last weekend. We have to pivot what we are doing: with the current shortages of equipment we locked in the prices on things we need knowing that they won’t get into NZ until January. Dealing with an honest retailer: when the goods land we confirm with a deposit, then pay the amount. So we discussed the budget.

This is in the context where team blue will cut taxes, and team green will increase them. Team Green speak well, but their deeds are less so. For the non Kiwis, read Wal Mart or K Mart for the Warehouse: it is the one chain where you get things at a discount.

It was announced in June that The Warehouse would be restructuring, a plan it says was always in the works and was just brought forward due to Covid-19.

Employees met with management yesterday to provide final feedback on the proposal and a verdict is set to be delivered next week.

The Warehouse says the rosters haven’t been changed in years and the restructure is “necessary” in order to change its rosters to align them with hours that customers are in store – including on the weekend and in the evening.

First Union’s Tali Williams retail secretary says the number of hours the company is looking to cut is “roughly 5000 hours per week” which is “extremely drastic”.

“It may not seem like much to the company but it’s everything to these workers.

“I spoke to a man the other day who’s been working for the company for 23 years. The four hour cut to his income means he’s not going to be able to feed his family, he’s not going to be able to pay his bills.”

One of the right wing bloggers who works at a high corporate level comments on this. The Wage subsidy was paying a lot of people, including half my family, because businesses were closed. It was costing 500 million a week — and it is all borrowed money. I supported a short lock down at the beginning because we were seeing hospitals swamped and we did not (and still do not) have the ventilators. It lasted eight weeks. and longer elsewhere. We now have a depression, and with that the rich are baying they are chardonnay socialists. The Warehouse is putting advertisements on TV saying the are sustainable and affordable goods. Betraying their duty to their employees and shareholders.

I am in two minds about the wage subsidy. On one hand Cindy and co closed down your businesses for their own political gain and told you that you could not run a business in order to “stay home save lives”. In the process risk ruining decades of sweat and success in your own and the future of your family. In this case everyone should have got in and claimed as much as they could as competitors will be, so you cannot put yourself at a disadvantage. As directors you also have a duty to your shareholders to maximise all available advantage.

On the other hand, there are the likes of sanctimonious opportunistic pious pisstakers like Stephen Tindall. The business community since March that I speak with have been quietly collectively choking on their own backwash listening to him carry on.

Tindall sucked up to Labour at the commencement of Covid-19 lockdowns and promised to assist to bring PPE and masks through his contacts. The Mowbray’s seemed to manage that on their own and a bidding war for attention and adulation resulted. Tindall cheered the lockdowns and jumped up and before he had approval announced his stores would remain open for trading as an essential service. This lead to mucho explaining to the market regulator when they did not have permission to and Cindy gave him the cold shoulder and continued to. Outplayed by the toy tycoon Mowbray’s for the limelight and unable to secure favoured nation status as an essential service through his political contacts, Tindall packed up his smaller toys from the sandpit and went quiet after that, re-emerging only when he fronted a world-wide campaign to beg to pay more tax

When looking at a people who are going mad, the sane will be called conspiracy theorists. There is a time when the people of truth will not get any support at all in this world, and we will need to be prepared to run. David acted mad. Because the alternative was fighting the people of Israel. Sometimes you take the least bad option, or you become comprpmised and corrupt, though you hire PR companies to promote your virtue.

Psalm 34

A Psalm of David when he feigned madness before Abimelech, who drove him away and he departed.

34 I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul will make its boast in the Lord;
The humble will hear it and rejoice.
3 O magnify the Lord with me,
And let us exalt His name together.

4 I sought the Lord, and He answered me,
And delivered me from all my fears.
5 They looked to Him and were radiant,
And their faces will never be ashamed.
6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
And saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;
How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!
9 O fear the Lord, you His saints;
For to those who fear Him there is no want.
10 The young lions do lack and suffer hunger;
But they who seek the Lord shall not be in want of any good thing.
11 Come, you children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
12 Who is the man who desires life
And loves length of days that he may see good?
13 Keep your tongue from evil
And your lips from speaking deceit.
14 Depart from evil and do good;
Seek peace and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the Lord are toward the righteous
And His ears are open to their cry.
16 The face of the Lord is against evildoers,
To cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 The righteous cry, and the Lord hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.
20 He keeps all his bones,
Not one of them is broken.
21 Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous will be condemned.
22 The Lord redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who take refuge in Him will be condemned.

Jude 17-25

17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and [c]forever. Amen.

We are going to get opposition from the elite and their useful idiots, the woke. I pray that there will instead be revival, and this generation will return to Christ and to sanity, for the generation of hippies from 1968 pulled access to the knowledge of those who proceeded them out of general circulation. No one was taught the classics, or the myths, or the ancient languages as they were deemed to be irrelevant. No one reads the old theologians.

But that generation are concerned only with their pleasures and their conveniences. They want to control birth and death. The good news is that they are now being called to account, for after death there is a judgement.

Where they will find that God sees their actions as signficant.

I would rather confess my sins and plead for his mercy now, and be called a fool by the credentialed mockers. For I do not want to be one of them.
