No social media.

I don’t have an account at Facebook. I killed this, along with my twitter accounts, after a couple of left activists decided that they would troll through it and then complain to my employer that I was unfit to have a job. That happened in 2019. Recently I recommenced an instagram account because some mates have things there.

But it’s gone. Zuckerberg forgets that his definition of democracy is one that he has bought and paid for: his donations were for that senile client of the Chinese Communists, Biden. So he’s deplatforming the president of the USA.

The shocking events of the last 24 hours clearly demonstrate that President Donald Trump intends to use his remaining time in office to undermine the peaceful and lawful transition of power to his elected successor, Joe Biden. His decision to use his platform to condone rather than condemn the actions of his supporters at the Capitol building has rightly disturbed people in the US and around the world. We removed these statements yesterday because we judged that their effect — and likely their intent — would be to provoke further violence. Following the certification of the election results by Congress, the priority for the whole country must now be to ensure that the remaining 13 days and the days after inauguration pass peacefully and in accordance with established democratic norms. Over the last several years, we have allowed President Trump to use our platform consistent with our own rules, at times removing content or labeling his posts when they violate our policies. We did this because we believe that the public has a right to the broadest possible access to political speech, even controversial speech. But the current context is now fundamentally different, involving use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government. We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.

Mark Zuckerberg.

If that is not enough, the local plods have decided that they need to monitor our social media comments. This first became apparent when Skantha killed a woman locally (and yes, he has appealed) and his name was suppressed when the family were on social media demanding it was out there. Plenty of people were visited by the plods because they thought they had freedom of speech.

So when the NZ Herald announced front-page on the 29th of December that police had set up a new unit which is, as we speak, “monitoring” our social-media proclivities, we should all be very concerned. Worse, when the raison d’etre for the impingement imposed on our privacy is couched in utter gobbledygook: “The team provides a dedicated capability that assists in the understanding and collection of information from online sources” our concern should be doubled, or perhaps squared.

The BFD

Just get rid of it all. Here Peter Grant has good advice. This is why Vox Day dumped Mailchimp and is setting up his own crowdfunding.

Withdraw financial support from every corporation associated with the Uniparty and controlling, rather than informing, the American people.  They include every TV/video subscription channel (Netflix, Disney, Hulu, Apple TV, etc.), because their content is more brainwashing than entertainment.  (Look at the politically correct messaging in so many movies and TV series to see what I mean.  To name just one example, the last three Star Wars movies were a sick caricature of the franchise’s former glory.  See also Netflix’s antics to move the moral Overton window with its programming.)  Therefore, cancel your subscription(s) to such services, and refuse to give them another cent of your hard-earned money.  If you really must see something they offer, try to find a free copy somewhere, or have one person in your group of friends record it for the rest.

Cancel your social media accounts everywhere that opposes free speech.  That includes Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and their ilk.  Choose to support social media that explicitly and openly advocate free speech, and refuse to censor their members.  Also, be suspicious of any attempt by mainstream media to intimidate or smear such independent social media, as the New York Times attempted to do to Gab and Parler yesterday

Bayou Renaissance Man

Now, I do use SEO and that does link to the google and bing. I also have a gmail account which is primarily a place for the commercial emails to appear. I’m also on Gab, but generally don’t link to here because logistics: I write the lectionary during the evening and programme it to go up.

From Gab

But the converged systems? Leave them.
