Last evening I thought I better watch the news to find out what was being said. That lasted 10 seconds. The TV was switched off. I was repulsed. This was something that I used to do every. single. day. The Evening news was part of that ritual. I also thought that private property was sacrosanct and that the law was fairly applied. I was, once young, and more stupid, idealistic, and tended to bulldoze through barricades. But I did not do protests or demonstrations, because I had already seen evil in the eyes of activists.
The closer we walk with God, the less disturbed we will be. For a recovering addict to the news and the emotional manipulation that goes with, I praise God for my wife who sees when wrath is overtaking me. And encourages me to look elsewhere.
I sometimes find myself very curious about what is ‘going on’, or what ‘it all means’ – and in the past I would have sought-out an ‘authoritative’ and honest source of information and interpretation… But now I know-for-sure that no such source exists. I know-for-sure that the sources which purport to do this ‘for me’, are simple propaganda units for Satan. I know – because I see it in their eyes – that the great mass of people in public and in public life, are agents of Satan – doing Satan’s will whether as dead-eyed automata (mostly), or snake-eyed psychopaths.
I also know that God will never leave me bereft of that knowledge and understanding which I need to live My life as best it should be led. This implies that my addictive craving to have opinions about what ‘people’ should do about ‘issues’ needs to be set aside. God has catered for my actual life and its actual scope; but does not provide me with group ideologies about what great masses of people (about whom I know nothing) ought to be doing…
I have often considered the several sources of divine guidance – God the Father as creator, who arranges my life and circumstances to bring the experiences I need; the Holy Ghost as my personal relationship with the ascended Jesus Christ – all around me all the time; that which is divine in my – my inheritance as a son of God. There is no shortage of knowledge and understanding to deal with everything real that happens to me.Bruce Charlton
I agree with Charlton that there are many places to find the truth, but I mistrust the inner light and mystical things more than he does. I have seen what false prophecy and possession can do. In this time, we need to reach out, yes, but we need to pray.
If is far more reliable to meditate on the word of God, for it was given to us for our good.
And we need to encourage all the men of God to be men, not little boys being scolded by the woke nanny fascists.
2 When David’s time to die drew near, he commanded Solomon his son, saying, 2 “I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man, 3 and keep the charge of the Lord your God, walking in his ways and keeping his statutes, his commandments, his rules, and his testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn, 4 that the Lord may establish his word that he spoke concerning me, saying, ‘If your sons pay close attention to their way, to walk before me in faithfulness with all their heart and with all their soul, you shall not lack[a] a man on the throne of Israel.’1 Kings 2:1-4
5 On one occasion, while the crowd was pressing in on him to hear the word of God, he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret, 2 and he saw two boats by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. 3 Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. 4 And when he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 And Simon answered, “Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets.” 6 And when they had done this, they enclosed a large number of fish, and their nets were breaking. 7 They signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” 9 For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish that they had taken, 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.” 11 And when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed him.
I need to note that I have no inside knowledge about the USA. I know it is worse there than it is here, though my country is more socialist than democratic and we have a GDP about half that of the land that used to be free but is still the home of the brave. What I do know is that there is plan in this. So some thoughts, aimed as much as my nation as America.
- We have deeply offended God. We have not merely rejected him, but we have let the unborn die in the womb, the murder of the ill and inconvenient is now legal, and the poor have no justice. If we continue down this progressive path, Sodom and Gomorrah will stand up against us at the last judgement, and ask why fire did not again fall on the nation.
- Having said that, the number of disasters we have are a warning to us. As are the words of those who still preach the Gospel. Who still call for repentance.
- In this time the faithful will also suffer, but this will produce not despair but joy. The regulations and challenges our rulers put in front of us will not matter. We shall meet. We shall commune, even if we end up, as Peter and Paul did, in chains. For nothing matters more than Christ.
- We get the politicians we deserve. Or to put it another way, the politicians we get are our punishment.
But this does not matter. What matters is Christ. Are you prepared to leave your nets, the things that you think are important, and follow him?
