A bit of creative laziness with a couple of observations. I can understand those who say that the Roman Church lost their way when they decided to join the liberal mainline churches with Vatican II while thinking that they could keep the barque of Peter floating. But we now do not leaders, but anti leaders.
The current Pope is either a moron, poorly educated by heretics, or a heretic. Given he comes from the Jesuits of South America who developed liberation theology, one should consider the less charitable options. Idiots ain't responsible for their errors, and he has made some howlers.
I try to avoid the Catholics’ problems. God know the Protestant world has enough to keep me in content. But this smoking gun that Pope Francis is not a Christian, indeed, is not even competent in Scripture, is too good to pass up.
ROME — Pope Francis has warned of the possibility of a second great flood, like that of Noah’s time, if humanity fails to address global warming.
Genesis 9:12-17 “And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
There will never be a flood like the one Noah endured. We have not only God’s promise on that but a visible sign of it. In fact, this is why the Sodomites have coopted the rainbow as their symbol, to mock God promising to never punish the wicked. Revelation is hard to understand but even a casual reading indicates that God is way more imaginative in punishing the wicked than just drowning them. But if Sodomites were smart then they wouldn’t be Sodomite.
So, yes, the text for today includes the one above. The sign of the rainbow is not only for humans but for all creatures on this earth. There will not be another global flood. Localised floods are another issue, but here we can drain, dyke and pump. We can predict and prevent. I'll ignore the issues about the Maunder minimum and the current cooling of the earth: the pope is poorly educated.
As are, being charitable, those who worship the perversions of the rainbow, be it the ecological errors of Greenpeace, the debasement of the queer movement, or those who worship that Stalinist monument to rationing health, the NHS.
8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, 9 “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, 10 and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. 11 I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” 12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: 13 I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. 16 When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” 17 God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.”
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6 to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
We are not here for social progress, and we are not herer to make a new understanding of what God is and a new way for salvation. Our salvation is complete in Christ, and insterad of being original -- novelty is over valued in this time -- we are to attempt to instead be faithful. Here we can learn from the serious Papists, suffering under a heretic prelate (or an empty seat of Peter: I am not sure. God knows).
One of the most distinctive, immediate traits of a sincere Catholic is, without any doubt, his desire to be orthodox.
A Catholic might, inadvertently, say something that is not kosher. However, he will always make clear that he is submissive to the Truths the Church has given us, and he will be embrassed at, and ashamed of, any involuntary mistake in that regard.
Why does he do that? Because he knows that Christ comes first. Peace and war, famine and violence, rape and abortion, are all seen under the lens of truth. A truth that may be, at times, not immediately recognised; but that is, at all times, the highest value and first priority.
The consequence of this very obvious trait of every sincere Catholic is elementary: no sincere Catholic would ever tell you that he is willing to risk heresy in the pursuit of some worldly good, like peace, or prosperity, or understanding among the people.
A person – any person! – expressing himself in such a way would clearly show that, for him, Christ is not the first priority, and these worldly and inferior goods – peace, etc – have been made the new God, to which the old one must bow and take second place.
This is so obvious, so intuitive, so deeply embedded in our beautiful sensus catholicus that every illiterate peasant, who takes Christ seriously, unavoidably must think in this way.
I'm a Calvinist, and I consider the current pope is adding to the scriptures, which makes either him a heretic and Antichrist, or I am one. But by your fruits you will know them. The progressive leadership of any branch of the church, with its emphasis on political action, leads to social impotence and death.
It is those who preach the gospel without flinching and do not grave the spirit with stupid interpretations of plain scripture that grow, and they generally do good.
This antipope, like the anti president and doofus prime ministers we have, are sent to us as a warning.
Do not be them, and do not be like them.
