THis is Palm Sunday, and the start of Holy Week, for those who keep track of such things. Christ new what was to come, and he had to harden himself. For he did not want the pain, the suffeering. He did this for us, for our salvation.
The Romans had trumphs in Rome. They paraded through the town, sacrieficed to their gods, deposieted treasures in their temples, and at the very eend were the rules captured, who were humiliaed, then executed.
CHrist knew that he was both the object of the triumph an d he would soon be akin to those who had stood up to tyrants and lost.
For our sake.
Almighty and everlasting God,
who hatest nothing that thou hast made,
and dost forgive the sins of all them that are penitent;
Create and make in us new and contrite hearts,
that we worthily lamenting our sins,
and acknowledging our wretchedness,
may obtain of thee, the God of all mercy,
perfect remission and forgiveness;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
4 The Lord God has given Me the tongue of disciples,
So that I may know how to sustain the weary one with a word.
He awakens Me morning by morning,
He awakens My ear to listen as a disciple.
5 The Lord God has opened My ear,
And I was not disobedient,
Nor did I turn back.
6 I gave My back to those who strike Me,
And My cheeks to those who pull out My beard;
I did not hide My face from insults and spitting.
7 For the Lord God helps Me,
Therefore, I am not disgraced;
Therefore, I have made My face like flint,
And I know that I will not be ashamed.
8 He who vindicates Me is near;
Who will contend with Me?
Let us stand up to each other.
Who has a case against Me?
Let him approach Me.
9 Behold, the Lord God helps Me;
Who is he who condemns Me?
Behold, they will all wear out like a garment;
A moth will eat them.
12 On the next day, when the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13 they took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, indeed, the King of Israel!” 14 Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: 15 “Do not fear, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.” 16 These things His disciples did not understand at the first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of Him, and that they had done these things for Him.
In the commonwealth, this is generally a holiday, and that means that Brother Didact will play HALO. I won;t. We have things that need to be done, including visiting friends and damily. We will make time to worship, but this world wants us busy adn distracted, so we miss the poin tof this season. That CHrist has risen.
My own rather misanthropic ideas of a great holiday aside, it’s worth taking a moment to remember that next week we celebrate Easter.
Monday is Passover for my friends in the Tribe. Speaking of which, our good friend The Male Brain has sent over lots of stuff to make the Pesach season a memorable one for his people and ours.
And, of course, at the end of the week, we Christians will mourn the death, and celebrate the resurrection, of our mighty Lord and Saviour, the King of Kings, Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
I bring all of this up to remind you that this is a season of hope and faith. We have much to be thankful for, and more to look forward to in the coming days.
Yes, the world appears to be going to Hell in a handcart. That is a deliberate ploy by the Great Enemy to make us despair and give up hope. And he is VERY good at doing precisely that. Many of us HAVE given up hope. We have failed to understand the lessons that our Lord is trying to teach us. We need to trust in Him, in His Son, and in the plan.
And make no mistake, my friends – no matter how random things might seem, no matter how crazy or ridiculous or stupid, there is a plan at work. We just can’t see it very well. But it’s there. You just have to look for it.
I pray that in this time the eyes of the people are opened, and they realise that they have been feed lies. Poisonous lies.
And they do not turn to tohat worship of negation — for cod Buddhism and liberal christian buddhism are acceptatble to the elite for they damn you and don’t change a thing — and instead turn to the cross.
And join us kneeling there.
Bend the knee to Christ, and let this world not have a whit of loyalty. Our rulers have disowened us. We will still pay our taxes and keep the righteous laws, but we will not be one of them.
