Let us praise God though the world riots. Let us praise God more because the evil of this time is more apparent, and the lies told not merely to this generation of young people but all the generations of young people I can recall are becoming seen as the untruths they are.
And our leaders, knowing that they cannot persuade us by dialectic or rhetoric, look instead to violence, destruction and over regulation. This always ends with revolt. So the praise of this time is to be feared, because it is from a corrupt generation, the fruit of a corrupt generation.
But that is not our fate. It was not to be our fate. We can have peace though the world rages, if we set our eyes not on this world but Christ. Which is why this world is more akin to a director of a second rate kaiju movie, making up with noise, sound and fury for the fact that his story signifies nothing
26 In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:
“We have a strong city;
he sets up salvation
as walls and bulwarks.
2 Open the gates,
that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in.
3 You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.
5 For he has humbled
the inhabitants of the height,
the lofty city.
He lays it low, lays it low to the ground,
casts it to the dust.
6 The foot tramples it,
the feet of the poor,
the steps of the needy.”
7 The path of the righteous is level;
you make level the way of the righteous.
8 In the path of your judgments,
O Lord, we wait for you;
your name and remembrance
are the desire of our soul.
9 My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
10 If favor is shown to the wicked,
he does not learn righteousness;
in the land of uprightness he deals corruptly
and does not see the majesty of the Lord.
11 O Lord, your hand is lifted up,
but they do not see it.
Let them see your zeal for your people, and be ashamed.
Let the fire for your adversaries consume them.
12 O Lord, you will ordain peace for us,
for you have indeed done for us all our works.
13 O Lord our God,
other lords besides you have ruled over us,
but your name alone we bring to remembrance.
14 They are dead, they will not live;
they are shades, they will not arise;
to that end you have visited them with destruction
and wiped out all remembrance of them.
15 But you have increased the nation, O Lord,
you have increased the nation; you are glorified;
you have enlarged all the borders of the land.
Note that our God is not for decrease and destruction of the people of God. It is the enemies of God who make up worries that mean that people are told not having babies is good for the planet and them: it is the heretics who tell us that we should accept the closure of churches instead of the opening of more.
The faithful will be hated, true, by the woke, for they are completely debased, aligned with evil, and despise the ordinary mercies and loves that come with being human. We shall indeed do good to them, and pray for them. The good we do will not bring them peace, our forgiveness of their offences gives glory to God, and our prayer is that the Spirit of God brings them to repentance.
18 And Sadducees came to him, who say that there is no resurrection. And they asked him a question, saying, 19 “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child, the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother. 20 There were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring. 21 And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring. And the third likewise. 22 And the seven left no offspring. Last of all the woman also died. 23 In the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be? For the seven had her as wife.”
24 Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are wrong, because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God? 25 For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 26 And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? 27 He is not God of the dead, but of the living. You are quite wrong.”
There is a resurrection, and with it an accounting. If we do not repent now, during this life, this time of mercy, we will get our just deserts. A Hell with an infinite diversity of pain and shame. The second death is to be feared. For you will be converging not with the cosmos, but the Satanic: not with peace but with evil. To say that after death there is but oblivion is to be quite mistaken.
This leads to a fundamental incoherence, as one seeks a false glory where there is glory at all. The woke here are a warning. Bruce Charlton describes this well.
The actuality of Leftist morality – and that it is inversion of the true, beautiful and virtuous – is revealed by describing the double-negative reality concealed by the pseudo-positive moral ‘principles’ used to justify Leftist evil.
Here is the way it works:
To be a ‘racist’ is = not to be anti-white
To be a sexist = not to be anti-men..
You see the way it works? Leftism is oppositional, being defined as ‘against’ various ‘evils’. Most of the Leftist ‘evils’ (often expressed as ‘-ist’ or ‘-phobic’) can accurately be described in a similar double-negative fashion:
The double-negative formulation is a necessity for Leftism, since Leftism is indeed ultimately oppositional (opposing God and divine creation; opposing the true, beautiful and virtuous); thus its ‘positive’ content (i.e. what Leftists want) is protean and labile, self-contradicting and incoherent.
After all, there are an ‘infinite’ number of ways of opposing The Good.
To be morally excoriated by the Left, all that is required is to be against opposing the Good, in any particular respect.
I was vaccinated against leftism by a couple of Trotskyites I worked during the summers with. One was in a bad punk band, but they wanted revolution. I wanted to find the beautiful, the true, the pure: I had already inhaled Tolstoy, Tolkein and was about to discover Solzynitisyn . Those three things hang together.Which is why they are hated.
It is better to note that when we are resurrected we will leave the aches and pains of this body behind. We will see God. and we will not be dismayed, for we will be as it was in the beginning, when Adam was God’s friend. Do not let this world distract you.
For you were called to better than any glory this world can tempt you with.
- From the Scottish Play “It is a tle told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”. The MacBeth of Holinshead and Shakespeare would damn this generation of leaders.
- In my youth libraries did have some books worth reading. Not so now.
