Long conversation today about family, concers about choices, and the need to not force issues. You can’t make someone love you by just working harder at it and you can’t change somone by instructing them harder. That comes across as nagging. This was in parallel with having the same kind of conversation with one son who is trying to work on skills he needs in his career.
So I come to this passage and the obvious issue is that the people are apostte. As if I dont know that all human activies fail We are fallen, and the nature of this world is fallen: all our activies are corrupted by those who don’t know better.
But we have to reember that we don;t live by the flesh but by the spirit , if we are of Christ. And you can tell if you are living by the spirit by the quality fo your life.
5 Let me sing for my beloved
my love song concerning his vineyard:
My beloved had a vineyard
on a very fertile hill.
2 He dug it and cleared it of stones,
and planted it with choice vines;
he built a watchtower in the midst of it,
and hewed out a wine vat in it;
and he looked for it to yield grapes,
but it yielded wild grapes.
3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem
and men of Judah,
judge between me and my vineyard.
4 What more was there to do for my vineyard,
that I have not done in it?
When I looked for it to yield grapes,
why did it yield wild grapes?
5 And now I will tell you
what I will do to my vineyard.
I will remove its hedge,
and it shall be devoured;
I will break down its wall,
and it shall be trampled down.
6 I will make it a waste;
it shall not be pruned or hoed,
and briers and thorns shall grow up;
I will also command the clouds
that they rain no rain upon it.
7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts
is the house of Israel,
and the men of Judah
are his pleasant planting;
and he looked for justice,
but behold, bloodshed;
but behold, an outcry!
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
THe way of the flesh is a hack, that leads to repid results, but has a cost. It is our soul. That we must neve allow. We need to walk by the spiriti, regardless of the cost. Roosh puts this well.
How can I manage to write more books? I don’t have any worldly fuel to keep me going, and it’s obvious that my own power is weak. The answer must lie in my prayer rule and faith. Unless I have an idea that is approved by God, that will serve His plan for the salvation of my soul and those who read me, from where will I get the motivation? How will the river of words be transmitted from my mind to the screen? I know I will never earn as much money as I did in the past or reach the height of internet fame that peaked around 2016, so it’s for God alone I must do this. May He be pleased with all that I will write and share with the world.
IF you are sowing discored, evny, division… if you have succeeded by epoloiting those who cam tto you for guidance and eladership, then you don’t have the spirit of God in you. You will consider live, patientce, kidness and gentlenss as forms of weakness.
And you won’t have the time to deal with the troubles of this life, seeking isntead power or pleasure.
But we wrre called to be what this world calls weak, but in Christ it is strength. We are called to pray before we act,, and to remain in communion with Christ.
For without that we too will fall into error.
