Sunday 30 May 2020

This world is very clear. It does not care if we are wealthy or have honours. Wealth and honour are cheap: it’s straffic, instead is in souls. We are told that the King of Sodom was prepared to give Abraham all the money and spoil he won when he rescued lot, provided Sodom got the people. And we are told that Babylon the Great, traded with the souls of men. We can see a foretaste of this as Biden preys on kids..The damage that such do, is a feature, not a bug, in the mind of the spirit of this age. We live among a people of unclean practices.

And if we see the glory of God, we should be ashamed. It is only by mercy that we can stand before God. Today is Trinity Sunday in the calendar, and I refer you to Friday’s Post. Our God is truly worthy of worship: the spirit of this age is not. Nor are his money or his honours or his praise.

Almighty and everlasting God,
who hast given unto us thy servants grace
by the confession of a true faith
to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity,
and in the power of the Divine Majesty to worship the Unity;
We beseech thee,
that thou wouldest keep us steadfast in this faith,
and evermore defend us from all adversities,
who livest and reignest, one God, world without end.

Isaiah 6:1-8

6 In the year of King Uzziah’s death I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, lofty and exalted, with the train of His robe filling the temple. 2 Seraphim were standing above Him, each having six wings: with two each covered his face, and with two each covered his feet, and with two each flew. 3 And one called out to another and said,

“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of armies.
The whole earth is full of His glory.”

4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, while the temple was filling with smoke. 5 Then I said,

“Woe to me, for I am ruined!
Because I am a man of unclean lips,
And I live among a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of armies.”

6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with tongs. 7 He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your guilt is taken away and atonement is made for your sin.”

8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

Romans 8:12-17

12 So then, brothers and sisters, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh— 13 for if you are living in accord with the flesh, you are going to die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons and daughters of God. 15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons and daughters by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him.

John 3:1-17

3 Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2 this man came to Jesus at night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3 Jesus responded and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

4 Nicodemus *said to Him, “How can a person be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?” 5 Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.”

9 Nicodemus responded and said to Him, “How can these things be?” 10 Jesus answered and said to him, “You are the teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? 11 Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you people do not accept our testimony. 12 If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended into heaven, except He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. 14 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes will have eternal life in Him.

16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.

Why did Jesus tell Nicodemius,who, as a Pharisee, was zealous for the law, tithing even his herb garden, and ruling over the remains of the Maccabean theocracy, he must be born again? Because in the flesh we are all broken and requiring salvation. In the flesh we are blind. The spirit of the age knows that and wants us distracted, if not by sins then bright and shiny things. We are encouraged to buy houses and shares that will inevitably depreciate, and we are told to remain in fear of inflation (which is coming, by the way), deflation, and my personal prediction having been a teenager during the 1970s, both.

We are told to be afraild of the COVID which now is being described as a synthetic bioweapon This is leading to despair, destruction, atomization, dysphoria, and a loss of hope

But have hope. God is still here, and he can give us his spirit, so we can resist the spirit of this age. The rebirth is into spiritual insight, not by reduction to noncaring, but instead into a communion with a loving God.

If you seek salvation, no matter what year it is or how bad things get, or even if the Antichrist is ruler of the world, you will be able to be saved. God promised us that His Church would not fall and He has kept that promise. The rulers of today, on the other hand, make false promises that are not even good the moment after they are uttered. I put my trust in God, not man.

Man, at least the self proclaimed good and great, are reliably lying. Turn instead to God.
