If Lewis was correct, and the biggest deception that Satan has, is that he makes us believe that he does not exist, then the dark Lord of the spirit of this age will be seething. Because one of his minions has found Christ. Heaven will be rejoicing.
And God can use even the Athiests in Kenya to bring glory to him.
The question has to be how. The entire rhetoric of this time is based on keeping us contented, dumb, and comfortable with out standards. As if that will suffice. It will not.
Consider the taberacle. The instructions for building it are precise. So are plans: we have looked at many plans during construction and they have to be followed if you want to have a warm and dry abode where everything works. It could not be built creatively.
For it had to be fit for God.
And this is something lost to the moderns.
25 The Lord said to Moses, 2 “Speak to the people of Israel, that they take for me a contribution. From every man whose heart moves him you shall receive the contribution for me. 3 And this is the contribution that you shall receive from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, goats’ hair, 5 tanned rams’ skins, goatskins, acacia wood, 6 oil for the lamps, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7 onyx stones, and stones for setting, for the ephod and for the breastpiece. 8 And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell in their midst. 9 Exactly as I show you concerning the pattern of the tabernacle, and of all its furniture, so you shall make it.
10 “They shall make an ark of acacia wood. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, a cubit and a half its breadth, and a cubit and a half its height. 11 You shall overlay it with pure gold, inside and outside shall you overlay it, and you shall make on it a molding of gold around it. 12 You shall cast four rings of gold for it and put them on its four feet, two rings on the one side of it, and two rings on the other side of it. 13 You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 14 And you shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark to carry the ark by them. 15 The poles shall remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be taken from it. 16 And you shall put into the ark the testimony that I shall give you.
17 “You shall make a mercy seat of pure gold. Two cubits and a half shall be its length, and a cubit and a half its breadth. 18 And you shall make two cherubim of gold; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end. Of one piece with the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends. 20 The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be. 21 And you shall put the mercy seat on the top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony that I shall give you. 22 There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel.
2 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom. 2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, 4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
6 Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. 7 But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. 8 None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But, as it is written,
“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—
10 these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.
Back to the Kenyan convert from Atheism. I would suggest that it is quite unusual for people to be convinced of the truth of the gospel without the prompting of the Holy Spirit, if not impossible. Yes, there is the discipline of apologetics, and it is worthy to review the evidence on which our faith is based. The intellect is important, but it alone will not save. As James pointed out, the demons believe in God… and tremble in fear.
I came to Christ early, convinced of his resurrection, and the emotional part of that faith came late, but it was there from the beginning, and is stronger now I am old.
I would also argue that one does not reject Christ by argument alone. The assumptions behind the arguments are flawed: primarily that to invoke any sense of supernatural or design is cheating. The data suggests it is not.
Instead we are lulled into that fatal sin, pride disguised as self righteousness, and with great pride in our advancing spirituality we are gently guided into the pit but those spirits who want us to remain apart from that font of wisdom, the Holy Spirit.
It may be that neither rhetoric or dialetic matter. The plain facts of the resurrection do. And the spirit of God will then work in power.
A Kenyan has left Athiesm and come to Christ. Let us all be glad. And may we, LORD, have a harvest of similar resignations into salvation from the Rationalist, Socialist, and Green Woke activist committees in New Zealand, indeed in all nations.
