This is not a time of justice. It is a time of corruption. The church has been filled with the worldy, and with than comes conflict. The cost of conflict should never be understated, for the first step is the diminishing of the human nature of the other, then the encouragement of hatred, then the acts of approved violence, then war.
I don’t agree with Ann Barnhardt often — she’s very sedevacantist — but she’s correct in this one thing: keep your accounts with God paid. Reflect on your errors and confess them. To God and to those you have offended. If you are convinced you have not offended anyone, talk to your spouse, for your pride is getting in the way of the Holy Spirit.
SO not rely on the historical nature of the West. We were Christian in our instutions and laws and governance. Once. We had the Scots reformation and presbyterian governance and puritan parliament lead to our rules of order. Which are often broken.
We need to recall that God destroyed first Shiloh, then Jerusalem Mount: to make the point he destroyed the temple at Jerusalem Mount twice. If we reject Christ and seek the Gods of this age, we will be rejected by him: if we turn to him as a nation he will turn to us.
Those who are of the faith know this. Hat tip to Mundabor for this one.
The enemies of the faith have been hiding in plain sight all along. Now they have simply burst into the open in more obvious ways thanks to the internet and social media accessible in every home and on every cell phone.
What we see in the promotion of sodomy as “pride”, same sex simulation of marriage as “love” and abortion as “choice” on social media accounts and in online news sources is not a new reality. James Martin with 300k followers on Twitter is simply taking advantage to a large extent of a superficial social phenomenon of the attractiveness of transgressive behavior. Largely adolescent and by no means proven to be Catholic, these denizens of the virtual are capable of seeming monolithic until one posits the highly manipulable nature of virtual “reality”. It’s not real.
For one example of the untrustworthiness of the internet, anyone with online access and an email account can create multiple fake accounts. One can buy bots which appear to be “followers”.
What is real are the young 20- and 30-something Catholics coming to weekday adoration and holy Mass. What truly matters are the families and elders who attend each Sunday at my parish and remain for lunch together every week. These are the real numbers of God. They cannot and probably will not ever be measured by the social media mavens. But in the perspective of what is real, of God and eternal life, they truly matter.
What is the correct response to this? What is it that the world want to ban? What is called hate speech?
Confrontation and Plain Truth. WHich is this following: this world has lied to you. Their lies have led to you sinning and they are encouraging your children to sin even more. The Autorities shut up Jeremiah. They had plenty of false prophets and worldly priests then, as we do now.
7 The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Stand in the gate of the Lord’s house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all you men of Judah who enter these gates to worship the Lord. 3 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your deeds, and I will let you dwell in this place. 4 Do not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’
5 “For if you truly amend your ways and your deeds, if you truly execute justice one with another, 6 if you do not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave of old to your fathers for ever.
8 “Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known, 10 and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations? 11 Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord. 12 Go now to my place that was in Shiloh, where I made my name dwell at first, and see what I did to it because of the evil of my people Israel. 13 And now, because you have done all these things, declares the Lord, and when I spoke to you persistently you did not listen, and when I called you, you did not answer, 14 therefore I will do to the house that is called by my name, and in which you trust, and to the place that I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh. 15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I cast out all your kinsmen, all the offspring of Ephraim.
8 Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! 9 For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honour, but we in disrepute. 11 To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, 12 and we labour, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; 13 when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things.
Not that I am not worldly: I live in this world and I get infected by the memes of this world. This is a matter of continual discipline. The first part, for me, is avoiding almost all television, including sports, for sports is now completely taken over by the woke.. I’d rather read the news than see it on TV because I can check the source when online. Given that half of the papers in NZ are run by a woke, functionally bankrupt collective, they are now akin to Pravda: it is not true until the press denies it.
But it is better to be humble than hyperspiritual. There have been many moderators, antipopes, hereseiarchs and false prophets who were praised in their day and are now remembered only as a warnings of what not to do.
Bruce is wrong in much of his speculation, but he is correct in his conclusion.
It is just an empirical fact that modern Man must be active, discerning, and take the lead in the efforts of his life. The default condition is that we create an evil world of rebellion against God; but if we want instead to sustain God’s creation, and if we desire heaven – then that impulse needs to come from within-us.
Such is the nature and challenge of these End Times.
What I would say to Bruce is that you cannot have discernment but by the spirit of God, or wisdom but as a gift of God. What the world calls spirituality and wisdom is a abnegation, a surrender, a convergence not to the will of God but to the will od man. That would damn you.
I do not think I am rich, particularly spiritually. I read the writings of others and find that they have deeper insights. It is good for a man to know his limitations, and anyone who speculates too far from the word of God about the mind of God will fall into error.
I also have seen the secular rich, and they are above all things fearful. They live in a bubble, moving from one hotel to another, being served by professionals they hire, from butler to cardiac surgeon. Most of them cling to this world and their wealth. They cannot see a way forward, and cannot understand why Paul wrote as he did.
The difference between us and the secular world is that we have something to die for. Their passions and desires are not worth dying for; they’re not even worth enduring a day of irritation or soreness, so they must flee from death whenever they glimpse the scythe. They must plead with the doctors and drug companies to take away disease and the effects of aging; they must get on their hands and knees and beg Satan to spend just one more day on an earth that will soon pass away, but as Christians we don’t flee from death but look forward to it, because like happened with our Savior, we know that death is not the end but the beginning, and what a joy it will be to pass the test of a life surrounded by corruption to live beside God as He intended when He created all.
God judges truly, and the value he sees has nothing to do with worldy success or the praise of the feckless press. It is that this: that we do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God.
