Sorry to disappoint, but all my favorite environmentalists insist that, actually, driving an old car until it falls to pieces is far more responsible that buying the latest ecocar, whatever that may be this year. The reason why is that it takes just that much carbon-based energy to build a new car, any new car, so drive ’em until they fall apart is the rule. I’m no scientist myself, but the old car proponents seem to me to be much more sane than their green new deal foes.
