There are a number of temptations that exist for all of us, and we are all capable of returning to habitual sin despite knowing the damage it will do. But there is a greater temptation to those who are in leadership. They can promote those who share their weaknesses, surrounding themselves with the craven and debased. They can congratulate themselves on their broad mindedness, and damn those who are so narrow minded to follow the laws of God.
They can not teach the whole word of God, or distort it, so that a full understanding of the grace and mercy of God is not seen.
Often they will follow the spirit of this age, moving the eternal (in their mind) so it meets with the ephemeral.
Often these people hate Paul, who they accuse of legalism. But it is not Paul who calls us to be righteous, or Peter, but Christ himself, who chose us while we were his enemies and completely opposed to his will.
14 Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found spotless and blameless by Him, at peace, 15 and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, 16 as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which there are some things that are hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unscrupulous people and lose your own firm commitment, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.
A fair amount of the arguments we have — including around the Vaxx — are carnal. They are based on our health being the highest good. Thousands of martyrs would say it is not: what matters instead is our faithfulness to Christ.
There are those who look at Revelations and over read it: there are very good reasons to avoid much of what is modern medicine because the scientific basis of what we are doing has gone somewhere into that Socialist wasteland of Lysenkoism, where ideology trumps truth.
Not that the temptation to consider the lies, and go for a spectacular solution, does not exist. Again, it is fleshly.
The last two links highlight the fact that everyone’s situation is unique, that those who’ve cruised through lockdowns without undue disruptions (able to work from home etc.) lack understanding and empathy for those who did not cruise, and that they have little idea of the rage simmering among the new, much larger underclass.
It is a curiousity that no one’s gone full Joker yet. I’m at the point where I watch Australian news to barrack for the virus but that’s as far as I’ll go. I’m about the most mild-mannered fellow in the world.
We will never be able to triumph over the world using the tools of this world. I don’t care how skilled and qualified you are. The other side wants its assets in power, and they count people as assets.
Where we win is if we let Christ run things, through us. If we stake the prayer "your will be done, on earth as in heaven" seriously. Because then the levers the world has won’t work.
And the words our elite want silenced will be shouted from the rooftops.
