Short Poems.

Two poems: both written not by the young. Both deeply unfashionable.

In fallen times, read not the fashionable.

Habitations

Kings live in Palaces, and Pigs in sties
And youth in Expectation. Youth is wise.

Hilaire Belloc

The Appeal

It I have given you delight
By aught that I have done,
Let me lie quiet in that night
Which shall be yours anon:

And for the little, little, span
The dead are born in mind,
Seek not to question other than
The books I leave behind.

Nice Kipple. I like the line about “the little, little span the dead are born in mind”. Reminds me of the line about how everyone dies twice. Once physically and once when the last person who knew them dies.
