When I started looking at the lectionary systematically — mainly because the church I was going to did so — I found that I had to look at parts of scripture that are glossed over. And here is one of them: consider that there were God-seekers from every nation in the known Roman world at Pentecost.
The pagans sought the light available, which was the God of Israel. Christ was sent to the Jews, for they had been chosen as an example. All to often flawed.
And then Christ chose Saul, about as stubborn a Pharisee who has ever existed, and made him Paul, sending him to the people the Jews despised. The pagans.
So that all could find the mercy of God.
18 And the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, 19 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month and the fast of the fifth and the fast of the seventh and the fast of the tenth shall be to the house of Judah seasons of joy and gladness and cheerful feasts. Therefore love truth and peace.
20 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Peoples shall yet come, even the inhabitants of many cities. 21 The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, ‘Let us go at once to entreat the favour of the Lord and to seek the Lord of hosts; I myself am going.’ 22 Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem and to entreat the favour of the Lord. 23 Thus says the Lord of hosts: In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue shall take hold of the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
18 Children, it is the last hour, and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come. Therefore we know that it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. 20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. 21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. 22 Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. 23 No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also. 24 Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. 25 And this is the promise that he made to us — eternal life.
This is a time of antichrists. Mini antichrists, who love the power they have, and deflect any damage done. And there is damage.
There are things that people used to do which were good, but not great. Amateur music. Knitting. Coarse cricket. But all these things must now comply with the spirit of this age, and that spirit denies Jesus is the Christ. From the Orthosphere.
The rapidity of escalation is particularly terrifying. I can remember how, as recently as 2019, there were nonpolitical entities, whose missions were simply orthogonal to the totalitarian demands of social justice: sports clubs devoted to fun, scientific collaborations devoted to research, businesses (small ones, anyway) devoted to profit. They did not have to declare themselves anti-racist, vilify their white predecessors, and threaten to punish their members for insufficient progressiveness. As late as 2015 there were controversial topics, subjects on which disagreement with the Left was socially disfavored but not institutionally punished. Today, it seems there are no topics on which a multitude of opinions are tolerated and no non-political institutions. As for the future, the only change we can imagine, the one almost certain to come, is ever more rigorous enforcement. No one imagines a future loosening of ideological constraints. To the extent we think about the future at all, it is to prepare for the next turn of the screw.
Tyranny is bad, but what comes next is worse. The next generation, mindlessly compliant to the only belief system it has ever been exposed to, will experience no sense of oppression, any more than Winston Smith did once he learned to love Big Brother. Given time, a forced consensus becomes real, as has often happened in the past. The official belief system will no longer be a tyrannical imposition, no longer a mismatch for any significant fraction of the populace, but it will still be false and wicked.
And again, from the good Dr Charlton, with one caveat. The world thinks they have won. But they have not. The next generation is rebelling as I type, and if these are indeed the end times, then Christ will break down the gates of death, regardless of how woke the defenders of hell are.
This is correct, in that these are the End Times when grey areas disappear, when there are indeed only two side – and these sides become more and more widely-separated; so anyone who is not on one side is by definition on the other; and the refusal to declare sides and identify one allegiance is nonetheless sufficient.
From my side in the spiritual war, saying nothing about subjects of actual major importance is highly diagnostic of allegiance. In particular, when I see people or institutions carrying-on as if nothing special had happened in the past 18 months; I know that they must have joined the other side as surely as if they had actively espoused the birdemic-peck cause or embraced the antiracist slogans and rituals.
We are living is absolutely extraordinary and unprecedented times, following a successful and silent global coup, and all powerful and prestigious social institutions and their leaders are now part of a System motivated by evil, and evil in thought and analysis.
In sum, there has been a global spiritual battle for control of the public realm of discourse and power, and the side of evil has won.
Wrong Bruce. Wrong. I’ve seen too many of the elite, and they are effete. They do not make a new generation: they debase those around them, not understanding that the more polite hate them, while the more honest hate them.
It is far better to live for Christ, and in faith. That way you build a marriage. (The SDL has had his 25th anniversary, congratulations to him and his girl). It is better to build a family.
And if that fails? If you have met the family court, and come out scarred? Seek Christ. Raise your kids. Repent. And then, God may do more with you. If you are alive, he is not finished with you.
Yes it is good and necessary to avoid the indoctrination centers. Since they have largely chosen the side of Satan, their slide into irrelevance (as they deny and mock the Good, True and Beautiful) will continue. This will open numerous possibilities.
Important: prayer will help each person to discover the right path for them. Don’t exclusively rely upon your own faculties. If this is a spiritual conflict that will soon grow “hot,” it is important that we not de-prioritize our faith.
Finally, there is some value to re-reading about Joshua, Elijah and David in the Old Testament. Each serve as reminders of what God can accomplish through brave men facing seemingly impossible odds. Remember: We know the End–“Egypt and Sodom” (the freemasonry/kabbala plus sexual pervesion we mock as “ClownWorld”) will be completely destroyed.
Stand strong and carry on, Gents.
Amen. This is the fin de siecle, an the present elite the next ancien regieme.
