I’m somewhat older, and I’m sick of the regulations enforced on us to protect those older than me from something that will not kill the young. God knows when I will die, and of what. I confess that I don’t have the calm of Jackson who accepted that he would die, and left it to God, trusting that his life would glorify God. But those people who would regulate masks and me living in a bubble drive me crazy.

We would rather meet friends, walk, travel, work. Think. But we are not ruled by lions, but people who wear the coats of such as their skinsuit.

Professors are, on average, old, somewhat sickly, and strangely terrified by the though of their own mortality.  Many will tell you that they believe in a scientific world that is just as fatal as the Calvinist world of “Stonewall” Jackson, but this belief has not gifted them with Jackson’s serene fatalism.  The Calvinist Jackson earned the nickname “Stonewall” because he took no notice of a storm of shells and bullets that was raining about his head; the scientific professors have earned the nickname of Chicken Little because they imagine they can outfox a storm of sputum and virus that is raining about their heads.

The selfless courage of the Calvinist Jackson emboldened his men and gave Jackson moral authority.  The selfish pusillanimity of the scientific professors is, I daresay, tickling the students with well-deserved contempt.  Students have so far surrendered a year and a half of their life, and a goodly portion of their undergraduate education, to keep us old men safe, and I believe they are right to believe that they have sacrificed enough.  Students think it is time for us old men to come out of our cobwebbed and spidery closets, and to show some stoic fortitude in the face  of this storm of sputum and virus.  They think it is time we sacrificed for them.

And the students in this rare instance are right!

The Orthosphere.

I’m writign this on a day when Dan Andews has threatened to cut any person who does not take the vaccine from any part of the economy. He will have a vaccinated economy, nd the deaths of children from myocarditis is acceptable.

This is a time where we will soon be forced to choose. Comply with the state, or follow the laws of God. It will not be the vaccine, but their requirements we cheer their destruction of the church and promotion of evil for their God, tolerance.

Sod that.

This Calvinist would rather have a beer with a faithful priest. We can pray in Latin, if needed.

For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin; and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons,

“My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
Nor faint when you are punished by Him;
For whom the Lord loves He disciplines,
And He punishes every son whom He accepts.”

It is for discipline that you endure; God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? But if you are without discipline, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but He disciplines us for our good, so that we may share His holiness. 11 For the moment, all discipline seems not to be pleasant, but painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

12 Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is impaired may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

The hard fact is this is the time that we were placed on earth for. Those of us who are older are here to support the young men, though we will form the line of triarii in this battle. In my experience, it is indeed the older who are greater in prayer, for they are less distracted by the bright and shiny temptations that are everywhere.

We will be shamed. There will be hate. There is a high chance we will lose our jobs, our bank accounts, our status. But compared with what Christ gave us, these things are nothing.

And all this will hurt. None of us want to have the pride of life, the lust of the eyes, and the desire for approval from our fellow man stripped from us. But those things are of the world.

And if we count them as fungible, we will be able to resist the pressure that is coming.

Otherwise we will look pretty, but fragile. That will break. It is those who have lost and enured, who have physical and spiritual scars, who may survive.

I pray that we all will find in Christ the way through this time. If is right now, in this engineer crisis, when the churches are shut but the rainbow parades are promoted, that our witness is needed.

For our way of escape from the death spiral of the global project will be seen by others, who will follow.

And from this time will come revival or Christ. We will win, regardless.

Thank you for your uplifting comments!

Your faithfulness and focus is appreciated, even in the midst of the COVID craziness there in NZ.

Reading/following you here from one of the states of the U.S.A. – certainly a more liberal one – where our state/local “leadership” is scared – of the virus or “not doing something” (or both) is apparent. Interestingly – it’s a most recent shortage of oxygen that has them and our hospitals in a state of chaos. Rhetorical question – what have we been doing the last 18 months that we don’t have the capacity built to quickly refill O2 tanks at hospitals?

Our governor has also (quietly) signed an order this week that releases health care workers and hospitals from liability during the surge in COVID cases – essentially, it’s OK to ration care and not treat someone . . and they won’t be held accountable. All the most recent deaths are folks with “underlying conditions” – what those conditions are – they’re not saying. What we’re doing to protect those most vulnerable – other than mandating everyone get vexx’d or stay at home . . . ??

The vex passport issue is also coming here (like NYC) on 13SEP – and it’s somewhat laughable to have them list as an “incentive” that I’ll be able to dine in a restaurant or go to a bar as a “benefit” . . .

For me personally – my work is (currently) allowing us to reply “decline to answer” in their most recent query as to our vaccination status. We’ll see how much longer that lasts.

Our pastor’s message was from Psalm 2 yesterday – my wife and friend attending had to smile as we read along and reflected on God’s response to the “uproar” amongst the nations. Certainly equally applicable today!

Keep the faith sir –
