There is a point where ideology runs over the consideration of people, and today New Zealand reached that point. Our PM decided that all teachers and all health care workers must take the jab. Within three weeks for the first jab in the case of health care workers or — to quote the Minister for Covid, you won’t have a job.

So employment contracts, and the right to consent, or be protected from discrimination because of your health status, are fungible. The rights we thought we had are gone. This is what we mocked the Australians for doing.

And the crisis will hit. We are hunkering down and praying. In this action, it is clear that our government is not that of David, but the dark inverse: where David worshiped God and took risks, they worship the convergence of this time and seek, above all thins, safety.

When no such safety exists.

Psalm 26

Of David.

26 Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have walked in my integrity,
and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.
2 Prove me, O Lord, and try me;
test my heart and my mind.
3 For your steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I walk in your faithfulness.

4 I do not sit with men of falsehood,
nor do I consort with hypocrites.
5 I hate the assembly of evildoers,
and I will not sit with the wicked.

6 I wash my hands in innocence
and go around your altar, O Lord,
7 proclaiming thanksgiving aloud,
and telling all your wondrous deeds.

8 O Lord, I love the habitation of your house
and the place where your glory dwells.
9 Do not sweep my soul away with sinners,
nor my life with bloodthirsty men,
10 in whose hands are evil devices,
and whose right hands are full of bribes.

11 But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity;
redeem me, and be gracious to me.
12 My foot stands on level ground;
in the great assembly I will bless the Lord.

Revelation 8:1-5

8 When the Lamb opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2 Then I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them. 3 And another angel came and stood at the altar with a golden censer, and he was given much incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne, 4 and the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel. 5 Then the angel took the censer and filled it with fire from the altar and threw it on the earth, and there were peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning, and an earthquake

The issue, in my mind, is that of informed consent, with the vaccine. There is no free consent when one’s job is on the line and the alternative is that the mortgage is not paid. There are many who have literally put their body on the line for their family, knowing that the risks of the vaccine are under reported, but being aware that the alternative is that the do not eat.

I do not disagree with people who freely take the vaccine, but compelled consent is never free consent.

What should Catholics think about the Covid-19 vaccines and about vaccine mandates? I keep getting asked about this, so a post devoted to the topic seems in order. As I have said before, I think that the statement on these subjects issued last year by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) gets things exactly right. The vaccines can be taken in good conscience, but authorities ought to keep them voluntary rather than making them mandatory.

What all this is doing in casa Kea is robbing us of peace. We know too many people in both areas who now are feeling compelled. So how do we deal with this?

The first thing is a separation: we do not align with those who are of evil, but instead rejoice on the Lord. Because we are of God, we do not fear death, nor care for the praises of the evil, but instead think of how we can worship and do good.

The second is that God will destroy the tyrants and their minions, if not now, in the future.

The third is that our prayers rise as incense. As the government removes all options, and hope appears to be gone, we need to pray more. Because it is when we think it is darkest that God will act.

Cam Slater has an excellent post on how we were deceived by the government.

VFF have a form for those under the new mandates, as they are contemplating legal action.

Strange times! Will you submit to the mandate?
